And when we think that NOS Alive can't surprise us any more, here's what happens: it surprise us again and confirms that it isn't by chance that it's considered one of the best festivals in Europe and, this year, considered one of the 10 best festivals in the world in 2016 as well.
On the first day of the event, Môce dum Cabréste amused and filled the space of Jardim Caixa. Dead Combo and Cordas da Má Fama, Raquel Tavares and Marco Rodrigues were the first to act at the brand new space of the festival: the EDP Fado Café. The Heineken stage once again has had a great influx of people, including the concerts of The Happy Mess, 2ManyDjs and Soulwax. On the NOS Clubbing stage, Branko surprised positively with a great show of zouk bass, and SG Lewis also didn't fall short of the expectations, with a slower electronic but with strong beats and lyrics. The 1975, on the NOS stage, featured a younger crowd who sang the hits of the band and Robert Plant and Pixies "warmed up" even more space for The Chemical Brothers, which closed the stage with a great multimedia show, where there were many Robots with lights and passing their main hits but especially the themes of their last album, "Born in the Echoes", released in 2015.
Second day of NOS Alive, another hot day on Passeio Marítimo de Algés. This day was marked by the curatorship of Portuguese Deejay Kamala at NOS Clubbing, after last year having acted in this same space, proving that what is Portuguese is good. Even in the afternoon, Mundo Segundo and Sam the Kid, accompanied by Dj Cruzfader, amused the young audience of space. The HBM, which in the previous edition opened the NOS stage on one of the days of the festival, had very special guests for the delirium of the festivals: Carminho, who sang together with the group "O amor é assim", and Agir, who acted the next day at NOS stage, didn't miss the opportunity to prepare the public for that day, interpreting "Ela parte-me o pescoço". And while the people danced and vibrated in MGDRV's performance, the mobile phone lanterns were elevated on the NOS stage with the first Radiohead themes. Once again, the Heineken stage filled up at practically all concerts, and Father John Misty's performance was no exception, as were Two Door Cinema Club, who also passed the NOS stage in previous editions, "filled" that space and infecting the public with their energy. On NOS stage, for the first time in Portugal, Years & Years went big, singing their main songs and some covers, to the ecstasy of the fans. After this performance, the following shows could only improve and that was what happened with Foals, Tame Impala and Radiohead to close the space, being the only ones acting at that hour.
On the third day of the event, at NOS Clubbing, the Portuguese Isaura sang for a large audience and the last performance of this space was in charge of Boys Noize. On the Heineken stage, the last show was from Ratatat, who still amused - and a lot! - the last people at the festival of this 10th edition. On this last day of Alive, it was up to Agir to open the NOS stage, where he performed for the first time and sang his greatest hits, always in chorus with the audience. The artist didn't forget Fado and invited Filipe Gonçalves to sing the song "Ela só quer", but the great surprise was one of the elements of his band: the guitarist of Arcade Fire. Then acted Vetusta Morla, Band of Horses, Arcade Fire, in a concert with lots of energy where a scarf of Portugal was not forgotten, and a run in the audience, and the M83, who closed the stage in the best possible way, with everyone dancing. Remember that NOS Alive doesn't forget the causes and social projects, funding scientific grants (registrations for the next year up to August 31, 2016) and social entrepreneurship. This 10th edition of the festival took place on July 7, 8 and 9, at the Passeio Marítimo de Algés, in Oeiras, and gathered around 165 thousand people - 32 thousand foreigners, more than in the previous edition, 88 nationalities and more of 400 journalists - about a hundred of the international press.
And, as usual, the dates of the 11th edition have already been announced: July 6, 7 and 8, 2017. And yes, the dream is real!
